One of my culinary heroes, Deborah Madison, is visiting Davidson College, just north of Charlotte, North Carolina, as a guest chef.
She gave a fascinating class today on winter squash, and offered those of us in attendance the opportunity to taste and compare a number of different winter square varieties. (Who knew there were so many?!)
Tomorrow she is cooking lunch for the campus, but you don’t need to be Davidson College student to enjoy her cooking. Check our the Charlotte Observer website or the Davidson College website for details, but the price is nominal for this experience (around $10, if memory serves).
It’s thrilling to have a chef of Deborah’s caliber helping to educate our college students (and us!) on vegetable literary (which is the name of her new cookbook coming out in March, 2013).
I’m a huge fan of Deborah’s, so if you are in the Charlotte area, please take this opportunity to check her out tomorrow!
