Today is Earth Overshoot Day. Simply put, it means up that by August 20, we have used up Earth resources that should have lasted us all year. After today, we are “borrowing” into our planet’s future. Think of our planet’s resources like your family’s bank account – if you spend all your annual income by today, you are living on “credit” or borrowed resources until year end.
There are so many simple changes we each can make just in the way we eat and how we cook and clean that can affect our consumption of the Earth’s resources. Please read this quick post from WWF about “Living Too Large on a Finite Planet” and think about how you can make small changes in your family’s lifestyle to stop living on resources we are borrowing from our children’s future.
