My recent blog on Sweet Earth Chipotle Style Seitan inspired a fellow foodie friend and unabashed meat eater (the daughter of a butcher, no less!) to try one of my recipes from Fool a Carnivore.
Check out Deborah Quok’s review here.
Deborah is a long time friend from the commercial real world, and has a lovely website, Piedmont Pantry.
Although my recipe was meant to be easily put together with pantry staples, Deborah (being the foodie that she is) used dried cannellini beans (instead of canned) and a lot more spices than I normally do. Her finished dish (along with a recipe for Confetti Cornbread by Tanya Holland) looks rich and soul satisfying – perfect for a cold winter evening.
I love that Deborah made a “parallel universe” version of my stew using pork chorizo and homemade chicken stock. Well, let me have Deborah tell it: “I figured it a requirement to give her recipe a full run for its money before telling you all, with the utmost confidence, that her recipe is mouth-watering decision and pretty darn close to a real meat version.”
High words of praise from a butcher’s daughter!
